Quick Read: The West Midlands Global Growth Programme 2024, led by the WMGC, presents a unique opportunity for European tech companies to expand into the UK market with tailored support services. With a successful pilot phase involving Indian companies, the program aims to attract top-tier tech ventures and positions the West Midlands as a global tech hub, offering a limited 40 spots for the 2024 cohort.
In a strategic move to elevate its status as a global tech hub, the West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) has introduced the West Midlands Global Growth Programme 2024. This innovative nine-month initiative is designed to provide extensive support to European technology companies seeking to establish a foothold in the thriving UK market.
The collaborative effort involves industry leaders such as Bruntwood SciTech, STEAMhouse, the University of Wolverhampton Science Park, and the University of Warwick Science Park. This consortium aims to attract top-tier European tech ventures by offering an array of services, including sponsored innovation center workspaces, sector-specific programs, professional services assistance, UK subsidiary setup guidance, local network introductions, UK VISA support, and marketing amplification.
Successful Pilot Phase with Indian Companies Sets the Stage
The program's pilot phase has already demonstrated success with Indian companies such as The Disposal Company, Oxyloans, and Cargosol Logistics Ltd. This success showcases the region's attractiveness for international tech investments. India has recently surpassed the United States as the primary source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the West Midlands, highlighting the potential for similar achievements with European tech enterprises.

Expansion Across Key Cities and Sectors
The expansion of landing hubs across key cities like Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Coventry reinforces the West Midlands' commitment to innovation. These hubs cater to sectors such as Future Mobility, Digital Tech, Health Tech, and Clean Tech, signaling the region's dedication to embracing diverse global innovations.
Limited Spots Accentuate Exclusive Opportunities
With only 40 spots available for the 2024 cohort, the West Midlands Global Growth Programme stands as a beacon of opportunity for European tech companies looking to expand. The limited availability emphasizes the exclusivity and high demand for the comprehensive support offered. This urgency serves as a call to action for interested businesses to seize this opportunity promptly.
Elevating the West Midlands as a Global Tech Nexus
As the program unfolds, the West Midlands solidifies its position as a transformative force for European tech companies. More than just an initiative, the West Midlands Global Growth Programme 2024 acts as a bridge, connecting European innovation with the dynamic UK tech ecosystem. This strategic move not only accelerates the growth of overseas tech businesses in the region but also positions the West Midlands as a pivotal player in the global tech arena. Interested businesses are urged to apply promptly to be part of this transformative journey.

Greater Things Secures Seed Funding to Scale Support for Idea-Stage Founders Across the UK

Greater Things, the organisation behind one of the UK’s most inclusive early-stage founder support models, has secured seed funding from a group of strategic business angels. This raise marks a significant milestone in their journey to empower non-technical, idea-stage tech founders and scale their impact nationally.
Since launching, Greater Things has focused on removing traditional barriers to entry in tech entrepreneurship. Their programmes combine pre-seed capital, structured guidance, and AI/no-code-powered MVP development, enabling founders to build and launch ventures without requiring a technical co-founder.
Over the past three years, Greater Things has delivered high-impact support to more than 55 founders, working in partnership with regional authorities and universities across the West Midlands. Their efforts have been backed by organisations such as the West Midlands Combined Authority, Birmingham City University, and SuperTech WM, laying a strong foundation for scalable, inclusive innovation.
Jof Walters, Founder & CEO Greater Things said:
With 75% of Seeds Programme founders still active, the data speaks for itself: this partnership works.
Hilary Smyth-Allen, CEO, SuperTech WM said:
We’re proud to be recognised as one of the most inclusive and effective early-stage investors in the UK—and we’re just getting started.
This seed investment will allow Greater Things to accelerate the pace and reach of their investment programmes, with plans to expand operations across the UK. The focus remains on founders at the earliest stage — those with promising ideas but limited access to capital or technical teams — offering them a structured path from concept to product.
