PortalZero, a cutting-edge technology business, has successfully positioned itself for investment after completing the Coventry Investment Readiness Programme. The firm, which creates sustainable products for off-grid systems, has urged other SMEs to join the final cohort of this free business support initiative.
The Coventry Investment Readiness Programme, delivered by C&W Business Solutions and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, provides businesses with expert guidance on securing investment. It covers a range of topics, including debt finance, grants, crowdfunding, and venture capital, with a two-phase process that helps SMEs prepare for growth.

PortalZero co-founders Scott Shearan and Nayden Yurukov joined the programme with no prior business experience, knowing they needed to strengthen their business plan and legal documents to attract investors. The programme provided them with essential knowledge in areas like marketing, legal requirements, and pitch decks.
Scott Shearan said,
"Before the programme, we had many gaps in our business plan. The workshops and one-on-one advice helped us build the foundation we needed. Now, we believe we're about 18 months away from being ready to attract investors."
The programme also includes personalised support from experienced investors and specialists. Craig McVoy, CEO of Turnkey, which delivers the second stage of the programme, highlighted that many innovative businesses have benefited from the programme and are now preparing for investment.
With the final online workshop scheduled for September 25, businesses are encouraged to take part in this last opportunity to gain valuable insights into the funding landscape. The programme is also available to SMEs in Greater Birmingham, Solihull, and The Black Country.
